Virginia 
The rich variety of the scenery in this state probably beats that of any of any other, Along its western edge lies the Shenandoah Valley, and The Blue Ridge Mountains, both giving dazzling displays of spring and fall color, and with breathtaking views at every turn. Over the East Coast are the site of the original New World Settlements, including Old Williamsburg and the Plantation Trail, here the history of both the Civil and Independence wars is strongly in evidence, and no expense has been spared to preserve the colonial splendor.
Richmond itself served as the capital of the Confederacy during the Civil War, and its museums dedicated to the war and the Confederacy are among the best in the nation, it has retained many of the historical aspects of old Southern culture The Virginia countryside is particularly beautiful around Richmond, which straddles the Tidewater and Piedmont regions of Virginia. Any tour of the City should start with the views from the City Hall Sky-deck where striking views of modern skyscrapers and the historic buildings await your eye. 6th Street Marketplace has over 100 shops places of entertainment, restaurants and landscaped plazas.
Virginia Beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, it borders North Carolina and ranks as the largest city in Virginia. On April 26th 1607 - Admiral Christopher Newport set the landing party ashore at the present site of Virginia Beach. Three days later they erected a cross at the landing site and conducted the first religious ceremony of the Church of England in America. Fearing the area was too susceptible to attack from the Natives and Spanish, Admiral Newport chose a small island on the James River to establish the first permanent English Colony in the new world, Jamestown. Fourteen years later the colonists settled in the area that is now Virginia Beach North of town is the Old Cape Henry lighthouse, authorized by America's first Congress, it was built in 1791 to warn seafarers of the treacherous rocks and capes on this coastline.
Charlottesville is where history and tradition meet. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville has many cultural activities throughout the year and combined with the scenic vistas, wineries, historic homes, and unique shopping and dining on the Downtown Mall, you're sure to enjoy your visit to this fair University City of Virginia. It is set some 60 miles west of Richmond and was named for Queen Charlotte, wife of England's George the 3rd.
